I’ve been waiting for this day for a while now. I’m not even sure where to start. I’ve been privileged to visit websites with quality content that I always leave feeling like I just learnt something new. A lot like the kind of feeling you get when you meet someone important and they live up to the hype and expectations you had for them.

This feeling is what I want to bring into the lives of people I envision visiting Artsy Moments and becoming a part of the community. Bringing together quality content from different genres of the creative arts with a particular focus on the African continent and its diaspora.

I’m not claiming to be an expert on anything we plan to cover here, far from it. I’m always willing to learn though and there’s a whole world out there to learn about. There has been a lot of interest lately in the art scene in Africa which is really great. Angola just won the Golden Lion award for the best national participation at the just concluded Venice Biennale. Also the Ghanaian sculptor El Anatsui has also had his installations displayed at both the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York and also a wall-hanging sculpture at the Royal Academy in London.

I’ve also just come to know the amazing work of the Nigerian Photog J.D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere who has been documenting the hairstyles of Nigerian women for decades, which is a shame really because he has been creating amazing photographic art for more than 30 years and I’m only just finding out about his work now. Better late than never though. This is one of the things I hope to change for others out there.

So here’s to hoping that you not only enjoy your stay here but that you also keep coming back. Let’s hope that wherever this takes us, we will all enjoy the ride and take something positive from it.

Thanks for visiting.
