I had read about the floating market in Ogheye, somewhere around Koko and was very eager to see it for myself. I was shocked that I didn’t even know it existed. I probably did a bad job of explaining which market it was I wanted to visit though because I ended up in the market in Koko and not the one in Ogheye.

Markets like this one are probably popular in communities in the Niger Delta. Members of the riverine communities (mostly fishermen), bring their catch to trade with those from upland communities (usually farmers).

Although not as big as the market in Ogheye, this tiny market sits on stilts just over the water where it meets the shore, kind of like a big jetty made of wood with a rooftop. The market opens every Tuesday just in case you might be interested in visiting.
